Florida Window Tint Laws

Stay legal and informed. Here are the current Florida window tint regulations according to Florida Statute 316.2953.

Front Side Windows

Front side windows must allow more than 28% of light to pass through.

Legal VLT: 28% or higher

Our Recommendation: 35% ceramic tint for optimal heat rejection while staying legal.

Back Side Windows

Back side windows (behind driver) can have ANY darkness.

Legal VLT: No restriction

Our Recommendation: 5-20% for maximum privacy and heat reduction.

Windshield

Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 5 inches of the windshield.

Legal: 5" sunstrip only

Our Recommendation: 5% sunstrip to reduce glare while maintaining visibility.

Rear Window

Rear window can have ANY darkness if vehicle has dual side mirrors.

Legal VLT: No restriction with side mirrors

Our Recommendation: Match back side windows for consistent appearance.

Medical Exemptions

Florida allows medical exemptions for darker tint with proper documentation.

Requirements: Doctor's prescription and DMV form
